About this record

Newham Archive holds collections on people, places and events that are important to Newham’s heritage. We have collections on local schools, churches and societies, urban regeneration and public transport, sport and leisure activities, notable individuals such as Daisy Parsons, Keir Hardie, and the internationally-renowned outside artist Madge Gill, and much more. The Local Studies room houses open-access resources such as census records, electoral rolls, trade directories, photographs, newspapers and maps. These materials are commonly used for finding out more about the history of a particular address, street, or family
