Undercurrent Creative Assembly

Undercurrent is a research project that aims to uncover and share historical narratives of activism and music sub-cultures connected to the River Lea.

From neolithic beginnings to Blockers’ Seaside, in Luton; punk gigs to rave collectives and regeneration, journeying towards London; the significance of the River Lea’s hidden histories cannot be denied.

Join us as we document and retell the history of the River Lea and its stories of activism and music sub-cultures. In this creative assembly, you’ll have the opportunity to share your story, delve deep into the archives, and connect with us to imagine future creative collaborations.

Undercurrent honours the heritage of activism and music sub-cultures and connects working-class stories along the River Lea – from its source in Leagrave, journeying through Hertfordshire and Enfield, past the Olympic Park in Newham to where it meets the River Thames at the Royal Docks.

This event is for anyone with an interest in the River Lea and the history of activism and music sub-cultures, whether or not they have a personal connection or story to share.

We are able to offer a limited number of freelance artists/practitioners a small honorarium for their time to attend this event. If you would like to claim this, please email info@revolutonarts.com once you’ve made your booking.
