In Newham, and elsewhere, when an apprentice started their apprenticeship making an apron would be one of the first things they would do. Clothes were expensive, uniforms for jobs were rare- so protecting your clothes was very important. An apprentice paid for the privilege, but your master would not usually pay for any clothing you needed.
In this workshop, you can bring a favourite but unloved shirt or pick from a collection of men’s shirts provided, and transform it into a useful and trendy cross-back artist apron.
Tools are provided. No experience is necessary.
