About Migration Museum

The Migration Museum explores how the movement of people to and from Britain across the ages has shaped who we are – as individuals, as communities, and as a nation.

We are currently located just across the river, in the heart of Lewisham Shopping Centre. We stage engaging exhibitions and events, alongside an education programme for school, university and adult learners. Our museum in Lewisham is reopening to the public in May 2021, free admission and no need to book in advance.

Newham’s diverse borough with a rich migration history has led us to celebrate Newham Heritage Month by sharing stories from well loved shop owners as part of our programme of activities beyond the four walls of the museum and we launch this mini-research project and trail partnering with three of Newham’s best loved shops and restaurant; Newham Bookshop, Kates and Miah’s Oriental Foods.

Pick up your free guide from Newham Bookshop’s front desk throughout May, 10am – 5pm May Tuesday – Sunday
