About Deafroots

Established in August 2000, Deafroots Association is a specialist charity based in Stratford, East London, supporting the local Deaf and hard of hearing community. We work with individuals across Newham and neighbouring boroughs.

Our mission is to relieve poverty, hardship, and distress within the Deaf and hearing-impaired communities. We focus on addressing long-term challenges to ensure Deaf and hard of hearing people have equal access to services, opportunities, and a fulfilling life within their local communities.

Our work is guided by four core goals:

  • Raising awareness of the inequalities faced by Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
  • Working collaboratively with all sections of society to build inclusive communities that understand and accommodate the needs of Deaf and hard of hearing people.
  • Providing practical support to improve quality of life and promote independence.

Celebrating the contributions made by Deaf and hard of hearing people to wider society.
