Bushra Nasir

Bushra Nasir became one of the UK’s first Muslim Headteachers of a state secondary school in 1993 when she became Head of Plashet School for Girls in Newham. In 2003 she was awarded the CBE for her service to education and in 2005 won the ‘Asian Professional Woman of the Year’ award.

After over 20 years and transforming Plashet into the high-achieving school it is today, she retired at aged 60 in 2012, but still continues to work hard to improve education, including volunteering as a mentor and being part of several education committees.
