Lee Alexander McQueen CBE – Plaque Unveiling

Lee Alexander McQueen CBE (1969 – 2010) was one of the most celebrated fashion designers of his generation. He was known for his highly original designs that blended creativity with exceptional technical prowess.
Known to his friends and family as Lee, McQueen began his sartorial journey in Newham, at a tailoring course at Newham College.
During Newham Heritage Month he will be honoured with a blue plaque to celebrate his extraordinary creative contribution to the borough.
The plaque will be unveiled by Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE and attended by members of the McQueen family.
The event follows a free special screening of BAFTA nominated documentary McQueen plus Q&A on 8th June.
