McQueen: a personal look at the life, career and artistry of Lee Alexander McQueen CBE

Acclaimed fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen CBE grew up in Newham.

He attended Carpenters Primary School, Rokeby School and Newham College and was later mentored by Yvonne Humble, founder of Newham’s Rosetta Arts.

Join us for a special screening of McQueen, the BAFTA nominated documentary. This will be followed by a Q&A with Ian Bonhôte the film’s producer and director, and with artist Gary James McQueen, nephew of McQueen.

On display will be a pop-up exhibition inspired by McQueen’s life in Newham and a specially commissioned Heritage plaque.

This celebration screening event will be followed on 30 June by the unveiling of the Heritage plaque by Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE and attended by members of the McQueen family.
