Newham Heritage Month 2024 saw Creative Engagement Services CIC host a fantastic series of workshops focused on podcasting and filmmaking. These workshops revolved around the legendary Newham radio station, DejaVu FM, a true pioneer that not only hailed from the borough but also significantly impacted British music culture.

DejaVu FM’s Legacy

The workshops offered participants a chance to delve into the station’s rich history and its lasting influence. Participants learned from the founding members themselves, including Rojay, Laura, Dlux, Kenny King, and Diesel D Power. They also gained insights from renowned artists who either got their start or received significant support from DejaVu FM, such as Preshus, Lethal Bizzle, D Double E, Dizzee Rascal, Crazy Titch, Wiley, Kano, Skepta, and many more.

Workshop Highlights

  • Podcasting and Filmmaking Skills: Participants gained valuable skills in creating podcasts and films, allowing them to capture and share stories.
  • DejaVu FM’s Impact: The workshops explored the station’s impact on the development of Grime music and the wider British music scene.
