Together! 2012 CIC hosts a lunchtime video presentation and discussion about the Greenhill Centre. Opened in 1977 and closed in 2011, the Greenhill Centre on High Street North provided a vibrant and supportive community space for Disabled residents in Newham. The Greenhill Centre’s facilities included a pottery, garden, mosaic workshop and stage, with a wide range of activities for members. The Centre also housed the Newham Independent Living Scheme, NILS, which supported Disabled people to create and manage their own support programmes.

The event will be led by writer, filmmaker and musician Angus McKenzie Davie. Angus is a former Greenhill Centre member, and chairs the Greenhill Cumberland Group which was originally established by former members of those centres. Angus is also Co-Chair of Newham’s Co-Production Forum for Adults, and Disability Ambassador for Enabled Living who provide Newham’s equipment services. Other former members of the Greenhill Centre will be involved in the discussion.

Everyone is welcome, and there will be British Sign Language interpretation and live captions.
