To show why heritage is important, come to a cultural extravaganza featuring Bharathanatyam south Indian classical dance and a DJ set with live percussive performance.
Bharathanatyam originated in Tamil Nadu, the southern-most state of India and expresses South Indian religious themes and spiritual ideas. It’s a classical dance form that combines expression, rhythm, music, and dance.
Cultural Newham: Celebrating South Asian Dance & Music will have two parts:
Dances of Newham
A dance performance spotlighting the classical Bharathanatyam genre. It will be performed by Newham-based dancers trained by MAUK – both children and adults. There will also be professional dancers performing other south Asian dance genres and an opportunity to ask questions.
Sounds of Newham
Live percussionists and DJ Azeer will perform together in a unique show that is bound to get the audience dancing.
This event will show why is Newham so ethnically diverse!
Please join us for this live and in-person event at Little Ilford Secondary School, Rectory Road, London E12 6JB. Please note this is a change of venue from previously advertised.
