About UCL Public History MA

We are Evie, Geneva, Joe, Kate, Liz, and Mia, six UCL Public History MA students based in the Olympic Park at UCL East.

As part of our programme, we have practised presenting history in an accessible, inclusive, and collaborative way, including through museums, documentaries, and walking tours, and have looked to local projects in Newham as examples.

Being a new addition to Stratford, we are excited to be involved in Newham’s community and connect with people living and working in the area.

We are so excited to be working with Newham Heritage Month this year. It has been an enriching experience to research and learn about Newham’s vibrant creative and industrial past.

We are passionate about Stratford’s history and have aimed to create a fun and informative walking tour, which highlights key industries, iconic community spots, and significant turning points in the area’s past.

The UCL Public History MA programme is based out of the Urban Room in UCL East in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Students engage with different ways history is used and understood, exploring its creation, curation, and presentation to various audiences. Throughout the year, students create several public history outputs, including audio-visual essays, podcasts, walking tours, workshops, and online resources.
