After a working life in international development, in recent years he has had more time to develop his interest in the history of this part of east London. He has focussed especially on the contests over open spaces threatened by development as London has grown over the past two centuries.
Mark and Peter have collaborated on a number of history projects relating to Forest Gate and Wanstead Flats.
As part of Newham Heritage Month, Peter and Mark have supported groups with their research on a number of topics including the history of shops and the development of Forest Gate.
