Job Opportunity: Digital Content Officer

Newham Council is seeking to appoint a Digital Content Officer to support the digital and communications aims of Newham Heritage Month (NHM) in an exciting freelance role.

The Role

The Digital Content Officer will be required to:

  • Support the programme team in delivery of events, training and other in-person and online activities as part of the NHM programme.
  • Edit, upload and design content of heritage records for the www.newhamheritagemonth.org website, as well as collect information for event listings.
  • Assist individuals and organisations in their delivery of heritage content on the www.newhamheritagemonth.org website.
  • Support in the distribution of marketing material, brochures, banners, etc as required.
  • Deliver online events using Zoom particularly.
  • Liaise with venues regarding bookings and audio visual.
  • Prepare events including room hire, refreshments and administration as required.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and monitoring throughout the programme.

The Person

  • Administration experience.
  • Experience of content management of a website is essential, and training will be provided in WordPress.
  • Experience of working in a team.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of people.
  • An interest in Newham and its diverse communities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be methodical.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Preference given to people who live, work or study in Newham or have a strong connection to the borough.

Further Information

Fee: up to £175 per day for approximately 80 days with a maximum of £14,000.

Contract: February to June 2024, on a freelance basis. The majority of the work will be during April and May in the lead up to Newham Heritage Month which takes place in June 2024.
