About Thomas McLucas & William McLucas

Thomas and William McLucas are artists with backgrounds in architecture and found object sculpture; they are engaged with the heritage of Newham through their project on the Beckton gasworks. Growing up in a terrace built for the gasworks employees, their proximity to this landmark ignited their interest in exploring its architectural and technological significance in the local area. Their work aims to explore how the gasworks have influenced the local landscape over time, including the use of the land since its closure in 1969.
